Mannitol (D-Mannitol) is a sugar alcohol excipient widely used as a diluent, filler, and sweetener in pharmaceutical tablet and capsule formulations. Its non-hygroscopic nature, mild sweetness, cool mouthfeel, and chemical inertness make it the preferred base for orally disintegrating tablets (ODT). USP grade is also used as an osmotic diuretic in injectable formulations.
